Toronto's First Postoffice

... A must visit for the postally inclined...

For Doors Open Toronto, I finally had the pleasure of visiting Toronto's First Postoffice with my family. Now, I know what your thinking; it's probably along the lines of "why would I send something through the post when it can just be just as easily be emailed?" It's faster, I'll give you that, but there is something of a personal nature that email lacks.

Quill and Ink

My son, who also wonders sometimes about his Mum's Mail obsession, found the activity of writing with a quill and ink letter engaging.

Letter written with Quill and Ink

He especially liked how his letter could be folded into an envelope and sealed with wax. "Just like in Harry Potter!" he exclaimed happily.
Toronto's First Post Office is open 7 days a week (!) and is located at 260 Adelaide Street East in Toronto BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

  1. I have often driven by this post office and wondered about what it would be like to go inside. I LOVE your obsession with mail. It used to be such a joy to run to see what came when the post man delivered because there just might be a letter. But alas, it is now mostly bills.
Don't ever give up this passion of yours. You give me hope....

  2. Thanks for your comments, Ingrid! My love of mail/mail-art/postcards has become a bit of an obsession. You should have seen me pining away during our mail strike. Not pretty at all.
Anyway, if you pm me with your address, I would be very pleased to post you something to look forward to that is not a bill or a piece of junkmail.
    Cheers. Louise
