I did this on the streetcar. All these drawings were done on my iPod Touch using an app called "Scribble".
I like it and it's free.

Roll Back

I was driving my 17 year old Tercel the other day. It runs like stink and has never had any major repairs.
Anyway, I'm stopped at a light. The car is on a slight incline and suddenly starts slowly rolling backwards. Now I know I have my foot on the brake and I check to see that I'm not in Reverse (which I'm not.). The car continues to roll back and I'm hoping I'm not going to hit the guy behind me. I put the car in Park, it's still rolling. I put on my E brake, the car stops. Sigh of relief.

I am told by the "brake guy" at the garage later that day he can't find anything wrong with the brakes...yet.

"The E brake is your friend." he says.

Good advice.
I haven't driven the car since.

When is blue the new black?

Yesterday, the zipper on my black, retro-styled Eddie Bauer winter coat finally bit the dust after 10 years. Since it's still February (and winter), I needed to find a new coat. I did not think that looking for a black winter coat, at this time of year, would prove to be such a task. If I wanted summer wear, no problem! Winter coats, well that's another story (why couldn't that bloody zipper hold out until spring?!).
I did finally track down a winter coat in the very small "Lands End" department at the local Sears store. I found a very nice winter coat that should serve me well for the next 10 years...in blue. There were no coats in black.
And that is why the new "black" is blue...well, for me, anyway.
(At least it has racing stripes. Everything is cooler with racing strips.)

One last time. This time I picked "religous" as the "title". May I introduce you to:

Now I've changed the "title" bit to
"profession".
Now I will be known as:
"Governess Euphrasia Griffin".

There's a really fun feature on a blog called "Brass Goggles" which gives you your very own "Steampunk" name using the "steampunk name generator"(Steampunk being a genre of Speculative Fiction, just to give you a short explanation.).

So, I type in my real name and a
" title" (I picked "military" this time round.).

I will answer to nothing else.

My knitting Waterloo.

I bought this pattern for a really cool looking vest. Vests are generally not too hard to knit, even with it's simple intrasia, but this one seems to really have my number.

Anything that could go wrong, did go wrong, including ripping it back when it was 3/4 of the way done ( I had to get my knitting teacher to do it, as it was way too heartbreaking...).

I am now in month 8 since I've started. It's almost done.

My next project will be something I can knit in front of the tv. Like a nice boring scarf.

As I watched my boy zip down Centennial Park Hill the other night, with his instructor in tow, there were only 2 words that came to mind:

"Speed Demon"

(although, I admit, "emergency room" were the other two.)
